The Second Decade of Docklands Project:
Now entering its second decade of redevelopment, Melbourne Docklands has already attracted $7 billion worth of investment, is home to 6,500 residents and is an employment destination for more than 22,000 workers everyday.
The Second Decade of Docklands project is a collaborative partnership between VicUrban and the City of Melbourne to deliver clear directions and priority actions for delivert over the next 10 years. All those with a stake in Docklands, those who live, work, invest in and visit Docklands, are being asked to play an important role in shaping its future by providing their views and ideas for the second decade of development.
More than 3,700 people participated in the first phase of the Second Decade of Docklands engagement project and over 2,200 people provided specific feedback about what they want to see happen in Docklands over the next 10 years. The community’s views helped shape the draft shared vision which was launched in October 2010.
The second phase of the engagement process is now underway, focusing on strategic directions and priority actions that will deliver the second decade of development in Docklands.
What’s next?
The community’s views will help shape the Second Decade of Docklands plan, which will include strategic directions and priority actions, to be released for final public comment in mid 2011.
